Procedure

Xcos Textbook Companion project is managed by the FOSSEE project, IIT Bombay. We provide internship certificates to all who participate in this activity. This activity aims at converting existing Scilab TBC code to Xcos.

 

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Learn Scilab and Xcos. Resources are provided at Scilab Resources.

  2. Submitting a book proposal

    1. Log into scilab.in, else create a new account if you are a new user

    2. Click on the book proposal form and select your preferred choice of book. You may want to download the code/PDF of the corresponding Scilab TBC here, for your reference. Once you have filled all the details, click on submit.

    3. Check your registered email account for a confirmation of your proposal.

    4. Intimation about the approval or rejection of the proposal will be informed via email within 2-3 days. The approved textbook will appear under Books in Progress.

  3. See these coding guidelines and start creating Xcos examples. You should code a minimum of 25 Xcos examples from various chapters of the chosen book. As mentioned before, you may want to download the code/PDF of the corresponding Scilab TBC here, for your reference.

  4. Once you are done creating the Xcos examples, you have to submit it

    1. See the submission guidelines to know how to upload the Xcos TBC

    2. Go to the Code submission interface 

  5. It will take a few days for the FOSSEE Scilab team to evaluate your Xcos TBC submission. 

 

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Code minimum 25 examples given in the textbook.

  2. Use only Xcos and Scilab (if required) and not any other FLOSS

  3. If the total number of examples in the textbook is less than 25, then the contributor will not get a certificate of completion.
