reading a .dbf file

Hi everybody,
 
i'm new of scilab, and i have a question: is it possible to read a .dbf file, that contains differents kinds of fields, using scilab and copy only the values i need in a matrix?

Usually DBF is a database that opens in dBASE. Alpha Five is a more user friendly (and current program). Excel should show the data inside although the forms and relations will not appear.STC Technologies
