The Textbook Companion Project aims to port solved examples from standard textbooks using an open source software system, such as Scilab. Any standard textbook can be used for this purpose.

The objectives of this project are:

• To make it easy for users of such textbooks to start using Scilab
• To improve the documentation available for Scilab
